Rules & Procedures to classes
What is an OPEN class?

An open class is where Drop-ins are always welcomed.  Most of my classes are both Series and Open.   I advise people who have never taken a salsa class, as beginners,  should either start at the 1st or 2nd session of the series and pay as they go or buy the series.  You will get a lot more of the lessons.  It will be more difficult if you try jumping in the middle of the 6 weeks.

If a class is an Open class & Series the Price will be $15 for a single class. (Nightclub prices will vary).  With open classes you can pay each time you go.

What is a SERIES class?

A class that has a start and end date. You can register for these classes.

You can register up to the second session of each series and pay the series price of $80. If you miss one class during the 6 weeks you will receive a free pass to take in any of our classes (Cannot be used as a discount for the next series).   In order to receive the the free pass you will need to let your instructor know when you will be gone and ask for it with-in the dates that the series runs. The free pass will expire 1 month from the date the series ends.   NO REFUNDS  or credits for missing more than 1 class.

Drop ins for series classes are welcomed @ $15 per class

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT LEVEL I AM?

Joby ‘Brava’ Productions takes pride in the opportunity to give quality instruction.  In order for us to do that, we will need to know at what level to place you.

1)      You could always call the office at (562) 882-4083 and speak to Joby to help you determine what level you are.
2)      Many times it will be difficult to say unless you come in and the instructor gives you a quick test run.
3)      Everyone learns at different speeds.  So the following descriptions may vary to individuals.

Please read the following to give you a guideline to our levels:

BASICS
This is for those who have never taken Salsa instruction or are just starting to learn Salsa (less than 3 months experience). You will receive instruction that will effectively teach you the basic steps and patterns, musicality,  and will give you a jump-start into the upper levels.

BEGINNER-IMPROVER
This is for those who have taken some basics already but need to still smooth out their dancing to properly transition between each step or pattern.  Also learn how to feel confident in proper leading and follow techniques.

BEG/INTERMEDIATE
At this level you should already have your basics mastered and are ready to begin using some styling, footwork/shines and get into more technical lead and follow. You must be ready to upgrade your dancing with a bigger and more detailed repertoire of moves.

INTERMEDIATE
You will now be given less detail with certain techniques that will always repeated, expected to pick up quicker and incorporate more body movement, spins, and difficult combinations.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED
Now, you are a level for challenge.  Be expected to sweat. Come prepared to focus and learn quicker footwork and unusual, complicated combinations.

PERFORMANCE LEVEL
Must be either high intermediate level or Inter/Adv.  You will be taught choreography, how to perform using facial expression, body confidence and presence for stage. Most who take this class always by the end of the series leave upgrading their dancing ability to a much higher level.
